Dolphin Splash Principal's Newsletter- March 11, 2025

March 11, 2025

Dear Davis Families,

I’m so glad the beautiful weather is here, and just in time for some of our favorite outdoor field trips, too! PK will spend some time at Austin Nature & Science Center and kindergarten heads to Crowe’s Nest Farm today. We’re looking forward to celebrating our Golden Dolphins from the third nine-weeks with a special setup on the stage for them to enjoy their lunch. Then we’ll head into spring break with no school Friday and all next week. The week after spring break, we’ll celebrate Pride Week with some special activities. See below for more details. I hope you all get to do some fun things over the break and enjoy your time with family!

PRIDE WEEK ACTIVITIES AT DAVIS

Every year, to highlight the district's commitment to creating a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for all, Austin ISD hosts its own Pride Week. We believe that when students feel safe and can show up as their full selves at school, they’re better able to engage in learning and achieve academically. AISD Pride Week is March 24-28. We are looking forward to celebrating our diverse Davis students and families and doing the same Pride Week activities we have done the past few years. This year, pride-themed activities will take place outside instructional time such as during morning meetings, quiet time, or lunch. SCHOOL HEALTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SHAC)

The School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) is an advisory group appointed by the school board, consisting of members representing various community segments. According to state law, the majority of the members must be parents of students enrolled in the district and not employed by the district. The AISD SHAC includes parents, community members, students, and school staff, all collaborating to enhance the health of students and families through coordinated school health programs. The SHAC (School Health Advisory Council) typically holds meetings on the third Wednesday of each designated month: January, February, March, April, September, October, and November. These meetings take place from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. They are held on the second floor of the AISD Headquarters Building, located at 4000 S. I-H 35 Frontage Rd., Austin, TX, or can be attended virtually.SHAC Meeting Dates and Locations: https://www.austinisd.org/advisory-bodies/shac/meetings
